Lene Frost Andersen is a professor in Nutrition, at the Department of Nutrition, University of Oslo. One of her main research areas has been development and evaluation of dietary assessment methods and biological markers. In addition to different traditional dietary assessment instruments her research group has developed and evaluated an electronic decision-making tool to prevent and treat disease-related malnutrition. Another main part of her research has been to study energy, food and nutrient intake, eating and meal patterns among Norwegian infants, toddlers, children, adolescents and adults to understand eating patterns in relation to age, gender, educational level, smoking, body weight etc. She has also studied how food environment (eg. home, kindergarten and school environment) influences weight development and eating patterns among children/adolescents to gain more knowledge on how to change dietary behaviors. She was actively involved in the development of the Norwegian Food based dietary guidelines.
