Coosje is an assistant professor at the Institute of Health sciences, department Youth and Lifestyle at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute. She is trained as a dietitian, nutritionist and epidemiologist. She obtained her Master’s degree from Wageningen University.
Coosje received her PhD in 2016 with a thesis on socioeconomic differences in dietary intake and dietary behavior. She is currently working on different research projects focusing on the food environment aiming to decrease socioeconomic inequalities in dietary intake. Examples are the Healthy Supermarket Project in which she investigates the effect of interventions in the supermarket to promote the healthy choice or the Healthy School Lunch Project in which she investigates the effect of a healthy school lunch on dietary intake on primary schools.
She is supervisor of several PhD students and is involved in teaching statistics and epidemiology courses.
